n line with the process of globalization and the internalization of universities, serious efforts to increase the quality of academics in institutions of higher learning need to be taken from time to time. Academics have to be trained and retrained to meet this need especially so in the skills of classroom communication where the English language plays a pivotal role. Undoubtedly, the process of teaching and learning will be enhanced if educators are competent in the language. In addition to being skillful in their areas of specialization they must possess the ability to communicate well and impart knowledge efficiently using the language in order to optimize the process of teaching and learning. Therefore, this course is meant to help lecturers deliver lectures smoothly in English through its various activities.


This course is aimed at:

  1. Exposing participants to systematic and comprehensive classroom communication skills.
  2. Improving participants' communication skills for teaching and learning purposes.
  3. Increasing participants' proficiency in using English as a language of classroom instruction.


  • Non-English language lecturers who would like to enhance their skills in using full English classroom instruction.
  • Non-academic personnel who have to conduct staff training in English.
  • 75 - 120 participants.
